Objective: Organize Business & Home Offices
Time Frame: 9 hours

This New York City based client needed help with office organizing as she was having difficulty managing the paper in her business and home offices as well as using her space efficiently. She found it easier to have papers and mail pile up and then tackle it all at one time than to deal with smaller piles on a more frequent basis. In addition, the incoming paperwork in her business office needed to be further sorted upon receipt and initial review. Lastly, the positioning of supplies, personal items and other relevant tools on and around both desks needed to be reviewed with an eye towards improving productivity.  

After:
  • Set up SwiftFile for filing and prioritizing papers related to specific tasks
  • Re-positioned office supplies and frequently used items near the desk
  • Created a file specifically for the current year's tax receipts and filed prior year's receipts with respective year's tax paperwork
  • Used covered storage containers that fit in with the office motif for storing personal items in the business office
Before:
  • Paperwork needed in the home office was mixed in with the mail, forms and documents collecting in the business office
  • Piles of papers were left on and near the desk as a reminder of tasks to be done
  • Multiple years tax receipts were mixed together
  • Vitamins and other food items were stacked on top of a cabinet in the business office
