Client: Newspaper Publishing Company
Project: Design A Move Schedule
Time: 8 Hours

After many years in their midtown location, this newspaper publishing company was moving to a new office and consolidating their operation so that all of the staff would be on a single floor instead of spread across 3 floors. Since the company had been in the same building for so long, they had accumulated lots of files, books and copies of prior issues of the newspapers.  A plan was needed to organize their efforts so that they would address all of the move preparation tasks in a logical sequence and be ready when the moving company arrived.

After:
  • Created schedule dividing moving preparation process into stages
  • Designated deadlines for completing tasks taking publishing schedule into consideration
  • Assigned responsibility for task completion to team leaders
  • Packing boxes for move to new location was delayed until purging process was completed

Before:
  • Assistance was needed to identify and prioritize tasks
  • Staff member involvement was limited
  • A purging campaign needed to be implemented
  • Items in the basement storage rooms had to be sorted

Client Reaction:  "The moving task schedule that you created kept us focused on all of the tasks that needed to be done and their respective deadlines.  We're moving on schedule and expect to be back to work on Friday morning!"
