I have found myself embracing the concept of work life harmony. In reflecting over the past 20 months, I realized that there has been a shift in how I approach each week. Instead of following a mindset of trying to maintain some balance between my work and life activities, I’m striving for a more integrated approach to daily life. COVID and all the related issues and challenges are behind this change in my case. But what is work life harmony? Being clear on the difference between these 2 concepts is a good place to start before making changes in how you move forward in your life.
Work Life Harmony
In today’s world the responsibilities and activities of work and life are more interwoven in daily life than in the past. Working on achieving both professional and personal goals in a way that promotes happiness both in the office and at home is key. When you are happier, you are truly engaged which makes you a better partner, parent, colleague, and employee.
Work Life Balance
In this concept, work and life are considered independent of one another even though it’s the same person impacted by both. Figuring out how to balance work and life becomes the challenge. If more time is devoted to work, then life will suffer as a result. Finding the right balance can be elusive and whether you’ll be happy with the outcome is not known.
