March has arrived, and you know what that means: that dreaded tax deadline is just one month away. Begin by gathering all of the pertinent documents. Our NYC Professional Organizer has compiled the following list of paperwork that you will need to have on hand when you go to file your taxes.
- Your Social Security Number (SSN) and business Tax ID Number
- Statements of wages and income such as W-2s, 1099s and 1098s
- Brokerage statements
- Records of any taxes you’ve paid during the last year
- Receipts for charitable donations
- Documents detailing the interest paid on your mortgage or student loans
- Retirement account contribution documentation
- Documentation for the cost of childcare and/or education
- Medical Cost Receipts
- Paperwork for any other tax-related income and expenses
