Three Tips from Your NYC Professional Organizer to Make the Most of Holiday Shopping!
As you’re probably aware, two of the year’s biggest shopping days are quickly approaching – Black Friday and Cyber Monday. If you’re looking to take advantage of the great deals to be had on these busy holiday shopping days, your best plan of action is to get organized ahead of time. Our NYC Professional Organizer’s tips on organizing gift buying will help you to make the most of your time this holiday season and get through the hustle and bustle in record time!
Make your Lists – and Check them Twice!
Our NYC Professional Organizer recommends getting as organized ahead of time as possible. Make a master gift list for this holiday season – this list will include all recipients, what their gifts will be, and how much you plan to spend. You could even include gifts you’ve given a person in the past to ensure there are no repeats.
Next, make a list for each store you plan to shop at, either virtually on Cyber Monday or places you’ll actually visit on Black Friday. One of our top holiday shopping paper filing tips is to try to organize these lists by store location, working your way from one end of the store to the other. Be as detailed as possible. Little things you think you’ll remember to pick up can be easily forgotten as you’re rushing around with the crowds.
Research Pays… Big!
Start gathering coupons and sale flyers early. Create a folder in your e-mail for special deals sent your way by favorite online retailers. Search for additional manufacturer’s coupons and/or promotional codes online that you may be able to take advantage of while shopping. Make note of which items you have coupons or promo codes for on your master shopping list and organize your coupons by store or online retailer. These digital & paper filing tips will allow you to make the most of holiday savings and ensure that you don’t forget any of your coupons at checkout!
Compare pricing between stores. While you may not be able to do this for each item on your list, make it a priority to research pricing for some of your big ticket items. This is especially important for pricey electronics, as retailers are constantly working to beat each other’s pricing. If a price looks too good to be true, chances are a retailer is just trying to get you to their establishment, where you’ll purchase other items at a higher cost – so look at your overall budget, and make sure a special sales price is worth it.
Map out your Day
Consider the stores you want to visit first on both Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Double-check store open times/sale start times and prioritize your days by purchasing the most important items first. It will feel great to get them checked off your list! Then, consider where you’ll go next, based on location. The last thing you’ll want to be doing on Black Friday is sitting in traffic losing valuable shopping time, and possibly missing the sale end times.
These tips and strategies were designed by our expert NYC professional Organizer to help you accomplish all of your Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping goals with ease and organization. Stick to them, and you’ll knock out the bulk of your shopping in no time, making the most of your time and holiday budget! Good luck, and get shopping!
