It’s hard to turn on the news lately and not see the damage left behind by the hurricanes. It’s an important reminder to us that we need to take this time to prepare ourselves and get organized. It’s easier to take action now when the stress of an emergency is not weighing you down. Local NYC Events
New York State Training Events. The New York State Citizen Preparedness Corps offers disaster preparedness training events and courses throughout the year. Each session provides the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster. It also includes education on how to respond during different types of emergencies as well as how to recover as quickly as possible afterward. There’s also an online training available if you can’t find a date that works for you.

Ready New York. This resource is an important one to have on hand (I recommend you bookmark the page!). The site is regularly updated with important tools and resources to help you stay ready, organized, and prepared. As National Preparedness Month winds down, this website will continue to provide you with the necessary tools you need to create your own disaster plans.
Notify NYC. This is the city of New York’s official source for information. It includes emergency events and important city service updates. This is a free service for citizens, and messages are shared via email, phone calls, text, and on their various social media websites.
